Rose-Tinted | A Pixel Type Family

Rose-Tinted is a pixel-based type family.

It’s inspired by retro games such as Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which approached pixel typography with the appearance of italics to add personality.

While many designers have experimented with pixel type over the years, there’s a unique challenge that comes with developing a type language that also accounts for bold, italic, and bold italic variants while respecting the limitations of the grid system.

The typeface contains 4 variants (Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic), and includes approx. 363 glyphs per variant (as of November 2024), including:

• Uppercase letters
• Lowercase letters
• Numerals
• Ligatures (Standard and Discretionary)
• Symbols (Punctuation, Formulas, etc.)
• Accent Marks (Uppercase and Lowercase)

The download includes the Rose-Tinted typeface as OTF (Open Type Font) files, and as TTF (True Type Font) files.

When using the typeface in software such as Photoshop and Aesprite, for the best visual results it is recommended to use font sizes that are multiples of 25 px (25, 50, 75, 100, etc.), with anti-aliasing turned off.
